Aug 1 2026 Brothers and Sisters Well, the heat has arrived and the Aerie is wide open and cool, come enjoy a quiet game of cards or not so quiet fun-filled Bar Bingo on Monday or Loud Mouth on Wednesday. See the attached calendar for other games, social events and scheduled meals. Below are the monthly messages from our Worthy President Bill Groot and Auxiliary Madame President Candy Arnold. Hope to see you at the Aerie. Kelly O’Brien Aerie Secretary, Foothills 4538 Aerie President’s Corner Thank you for supporting our charity dinners, all the money we raise will remain here in Arizona in support of Suicide Prevention, especially for our youth. Our next charity dinner will be a steak dinner, Aug 5 from 5-6, tickets available at the bar. We initiated 23 new members last month, and congratulations to our newest officers, Jerry Mayer fills the 7th trustee position, and Nancy Curotto is our new Treasurer. 4th of July the Eagle Riders brought the collection of canned goods to the Right Turn for Veterans; they were extremely grateful to them. “People helping People”! The Aerie held a Homecoming for our State Worthy President Ralph Arnold, now the Junior Past State Worthy President, it was a great honor having Ralph represent us and the entire State. July 18th Lisa and I went up to the Surprise Aerie #4534 to join them in their Grand Opening. We were warmly welcomed by their members and officers, lots of laughs, we even won a couple door prizes, glad to see they are enjoying their new home. Long day, but I think it’s important that we show support to our brothers and sisters of other Aeries and Auxiliaries. Upcoming: We have a couple new games going on, Mexican Train and Card Bingo, check the calendar for days and times. We’re holding a daytime initiation on the Aug 17th, 9:00 am, and an open house on the 22nd, if you have any ideas or wish to help, please contact Deb Rennick, our membership chairman, https://www.foe4538.com/calendar/index.php. As we look ahead, I invite every member to become a part of the excitement by volunteering at an event this year. Whether you choose to chair an event or join a committee, you will be supported every step of the way by experienced members! Volunteering is a rewarding way to build friendships, learn new skills, and make a meaningful impact. Every event we host helps us support the charities and causes that make a difference in our community. Together we are “People helping People”. Bill (Dutch) Groot Worthy President #4538 “Your opinion at the bar is worthless, your opinion at the meetings is priceless!” Auxiliary Presidents Corner We initiated 5 new sisters this month and are very pleased to welcome them to our home. Thank you to their sponsors. As I said last month, we don’t ask a lot of our members except that the only way we can grow is if you bring in new members to our Aerie. We ask that every member bring in one new member every year. Ask your family, friends, and neighbors to join us. We are hosting an open house August 22, to give potential members a chance to see what we are all about. The primary focus of the Auxiliary is to earn money for our charities, and we do that by serving meals, basket raffles, bake sales, 50/50 and any other fundraisers. By supporting these events, you are helping support our charities. We are having a special charity dinner on August 19, to support the Aerie and Auxiliary Charity which is the Arizona chapter of National Suicide Prevention aimed at our youth. The dinner is individual meatloaf’s, scalloped potatoes, vegetables, rolls and desserts for &11 and will be prepared by Ralph and Candy. Please come out and support this very worthy cause. We will be having a special drawing at 6:00. Kim and Shane are hosting a corn hole tournament on August 16th and sign up is in the bar. If you don’t play, come and watch. It is a hoot! Thank you for being an Eagle and we will see you at the Aerie where you can come and get out of the heat and enjoy the friendship of your friends. |

JUNE 1st 2026 Dear Brothers and Sisters, Today we start another Eagle year with some new officers and a fresh beginning. Many of our officers will be away this week, attending the Annual State Convention. Although we are in Phoenix, we are still only a phone call away. I will keep my comments short as I have a very important letter from the Grand Aerie to share with you about the upcoming changes to our membership cards, also both the Worthy President and Madam President have included a message. Please note there are a few changes to the summer calendar. Fraternally Kelly O’Brien Secretary FOE #4538 ******************************************************************** Received from FOE Grand Aerie Brothers & Sisters, As many of you know, in July, we will be migrating to having hard membership cards for all members. Following the mass drop of delinquent members on July 11, the Grand Aerie will be sending a list of all members in good standing to the company who will do the printing and fulfillment of these cards. They will be printing and mailing them throughout the month of July. Following that initial run, we will be submitting weekly uploads of information for new and re-enrolled members. When Secretaries add new initiated members in MMS, their card information will be sent to the printer in the following week’s data upload. These will be scheduled to upload on Monday mornings, so any work you do on the weekend would reflect in that week’s data upload. Secretaries will no longer be responsible for printing and distributing cards themselves. The cost of the hard cards is being absorbed by the Grand Aerie as promised when the Per-Capita Tax increase took effect. Each card will be mailed with the home Aerie or Auxiliary address as the return address, so if one of your members has an outdated address or the mail is deemed undeliverable, it will be returned to you so that you may contact them to pick the card up in person and update their contact information in MMS. We are currently working on arrangements for a door entry system Aeries can use in conjunction with the QR codes on each member’s hard card. More information on this will be released to ALL Secretaries once it is finalized. Costs associated with door entry systems would be the responsibility of the host Aerie. For the 2026-2027 year, we will recognize both the yellow dues receipt and the hard card as official dues receipts to reduce any issues we may have resulting from outdated mailing addresses in our system. Starting with 2027-2028, only the hard card will be recognized. We thank you for your support during this transition and we look forward to hearing your feedback as we refine this process. Thank you! ******************************************************************** Aerie President’s Corner I would like to thank everyone for their support and look forward to working with each of you in the coming year. A big thanks to all the officers that I worked with this past year, you all rocked! And congratulations to the incoming officers for their commitment to making this Aerie a great place to be! The incoming officers are • Worthy President – Bill Groot • Junior Past President – Debbie Rennick • Worthy Vice President – Karen Jette • Worthy Chaplin – Marianne O’Brien • Secretary – Kelly O’Brien • Treasurer – Nancy Whipple • Worthy Conductor – Cheri Martin • Inside Guard – Jack Holstin • Trustees – Ed Borst, Harvey LeSure, Wendell Blum, Tim Ricci, Ralph Arnold and Debbie Rennick Congratulations to the incoming Auxiliary officers, and I look forward to working with them, they help make this Eagles great. I would like to thank Linda McCready-Adelgren and her crew for their hard work this past year for organizing and putting on a monthly dinner to support the American Society for Prevention of Suicide. Madam President Candy Arnold and I are going to continue this support by hosting dinners on the 1st and 3rd Wednesday of each month. Check the calendar, Facebook and website for our upcoming dinners, we will start with a Steak Dinner on July 1, pre-sale tickets ($15) go on sale toward the end of June so we know how many steaks to buy. The Eagle Riders are organizing a can drive for the food bank starting June 1, and the Aerie is having a nutritional drink collection for the Cancer Center starting June 16. You can find our monthly calendar here https://www.foe4538.com/calendar Bill (Dutch) Groot Worthy President Foothills Eagles 4538 “Your opinion at the bar is worthless, your opinion at a meeting is priceless!” ******************************************************************** AUXILILARY PRESIDENTS CORNER Please welcome your 2026-2027 Auxiliary Officers: • PRESIDENT: Candy Arnold • JUNIOR PAST PRESIDENT: Debby Borst • VICE PRESIDENT: Janet Gentzel • CHAPLAIN: Anna Maria Osmond • CONDUCTOR: Betty Jane Killner • GUARD: Nancie Hackie • TRUSTEES: Joyce Thompson, Robynne Young, Judy Goodale • SECRETARY: Linda May • TREASURER: Susan Coyle Aerie President, Bill Groot and I will continue our support of the American Society for Suicide Prevention and they will be our Presidents Charity for the year. We will be having two Charity Dinners each month on the 1st and 3rd Wednesdays from 5-6, with the first Wednesday being a Steak Dinner and the Second Wednesday will be Cook’s Choice. (If you attended our Valentines Dinner last year, you know how GREAT the Steaks were). Steak Dinners will require a purchase of ticket in advance so that we will be able to have the right number of steaks available and the cost will be $15 (to include Steak, Baked Potato and side). A BIG thank you to Linda McCready-Aldergren and her crew for hosting the Monthly Presidents Charity for 2025-2026. Unfortunately, due to rising grocery costs, the price of our Dinners will be $11, effective in June. The proceeds of all of our Charity Dinners go to specific Charities and $1 from each meal is donated to our Building Fund. Our dinners support the Building Fund, Right Turn for Vets, Hospice of Yuma, Community Food Bank, Crossroads Mission, CASA, Parkinsons Fund and Yuma Children’s Museum, just to name a few. So you can see how important it is to support our Saturday Night Dinners. Bill and myself have chosen Babe Burton as the Aerie and Auxiliary Mother….so please make sure to give her a big hug when you see her around the Aerie….or you may get sent to “Time Out”! FATHERS DAY will be the last Sunday Brunch for the summer, and we will make it a GREAT one for all of the Fathers of the Aerie (who will be treated by the Auxiliary), so please be sure to Join us. We will also have a 50/50 and Fathers Day Basket….and maybe even a surprise give away….you must come to find out! Please check your Calendars, our Facebook page or our website at www.foe4538.com as they are packed full of Activities, dates and times of functions, bands, and other useful information. Candy Arnold signing off until next time! |

Happy New Year Brothers and Sisters, I would like to wish one and all a very happy, healthy and prosperous New Year. Last year was a very eventful year and we are looking forward to an even more exciting 2026. Thank you to all the volunteers that organize and run the various events and those who do the planning, shopping, cooking, serving and cleanup of all the meals, we all appreciate your continued efforts. We enjoyed the Christmas and New Year's decorations which added to the festive atmosphere. Thank you to the volunteers that participated in making the Aerie a pleasant place to spend time with family and friends. A reminder of upcoming events: In January and February, there will be initiations at both Aerie meetings. Our Dance floor has been replaced, and we would like to thank all that helped with that process. Aerie floor replacement project is scheduled for the Dart board section on Jan 7 & 8 and for the Bingo Machine area Jan 21 and 22. We are saving money on the labor by removing the existing floor ourselves. All membership participation significantly helps the effort and is greatly appreciated. Some adjustments to activities will need to be made to redo all the floors, patience is encouraged. The Trustee’s Fish Fry will be on the 9th of Jan at 5pm. The Trustees will be selling the remaining cacti at the 40th St property on Sat Jan 10, at 9am. Proceeds go to the Building Fund. On Jan 14 we will hold our first God, Flag and Country competition, open to all 10-11, 12-13, and 14–15-year-old children at 5pm. The competition is a 3-minute memorized speech on how either, God, Flag, Country or any combination, affects them. On Saturday Jan 17 we are having our annual Open House Membership drive. This is an opportunity to bring friends to the Aerie to see who we are and what we do. New potential members will be given a Raffle ticket when they enter and at the end of the day the drawing will be made for a 1-year free membership. There will be free Hot Dogs and Burgers with chips etc. In February we will start our membership renewal drive, on Tuesdays and Thursdays at 11am – 1pm. Of course, the secretaries will be happy to renew your membership anytime they are at the Aerie. All winter visitors, please renew your membership before you leave for the summer. We have a garage/yard sale planned for February 12th, please save any donations to bring in the day before, if able we would appreciate any help with the event. On Feb 27th the Aerie 4538’s 3rd Annual Golf Tournament will be played at Las Barrancas Golf Course, in the Foothills. Entrance fee is $80 per person/$320 per foursome. Signup forms are available at the Aerie. Lunch, prizes and raffles will be at the Aerie. The 2026 F.O.E. Arizona State Spring Conference will be held at our Aerie on Feb 27 and 28. The conference gives us a chance to meet our state officers and other membership. There will be representatives from Grand Aerie and Auxiliary who will have information on the changes in the administration of Grand and how that will affect us. All our members are encouraged to attend and participate. Our interview committee is working hard to interview and prepare new members for initiation. Be sure to welcome new members and try to answer any questions they may have. We encourage all members to please inform our officers/ trustees of any new ideas or concerns. Also encourage new members to volunteer to help them become familiar with the Aerie activities. We have a wonderful Eagle Family, and we all need to help each other. Our New Building Fund Thermometer is now at $380,000.00, which puts us past the halfway point of paying off the land mortgage. The building committee members have been working hard to obtain bids to connect sewer and water to the property. We anticipate we are weeks away from starting construction.
